Arlene has been interested in all things beautiful from a very young age. A love of nature especially is portrayed in many of her paintings. Its moods, hues, and light color her landscapes and seascapes. Extensive worldwide travel influences her color choices and her use of texture. In addition, she has an Interior Design degree and has worked in that field for 30 plus years. Her strength is in dramatic color selection for walls and room furnishings. Much of her work is very free and open. Other work is more detailed. Some pieces are primitive, almost childlike. Variety is evident, even though the subject matter is usually similar. |

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, her art background started early in parochial schools. There, the nuns stated that she had a very sophisticated color sense. Art education continued in high school as well. Later she studied art history and design in college. At present, she and her husband, Jerry travel world wide as often as possible. They have viewed the art of many artists including Picasso, El Greco, and Michelangelo first hand. The works of the ancient Moors have been enjoyed in Istanbul and Spain. |

She is establishing herself in Florida creating scenes from northeastern Florida and you will see some other ideas expressed as well. She has lived in places throughout the Midwest but just recently moved to New Smyrna Beach from Sarasota, Florida. There, she was taught by Lois Carson. As a new resident to New Smyrna Beach she is looking forward to participating in the many venues this cultural haven has to offer. She hopes you will enjoy the many moods of her work and that they will call you into the work as you view it. |
